Parelli Levels

Take it a Level at a time ... Start with the Partnership Program (Level 1) and finish it before advancing to Level 2. Level 1 is the foundation for all other Levels.

Then complete the Harmony Program (Level 2). Finish with the Refinement Program (Level 3). The amount of time it takes to complete each Level will vary from person to person. There's no need to rush -- you and your horse will enjoy every minute of it!

How do you know when you're ready to move on to the next Level? Just follow the Check Lists at the end of each lesson. Once you can successfully complete all the tasks outlined in the Check Lists, you are ready for the next Level. You can even opt for an "official assessment" with a PNH Endorsed Instructor live in person or via a video recording.

And remember ... Pat's program is for everybody! It doesn't take talent, it doesn't take bravery and it doesn't take years to get results. It takes heart, desire, and access to a phenomenal teacher who's willing to share everything he knows in a way that is simple to understand because it builds, step by step, to as high a level of horsemanship as you want to take it!

Many of your problems and frustrations are solved at this Level. It also contains critical foundation elements for the following Levels. you'll do 10 times more with your horse than you thought possible!

Are you frustrated with your horse? What problems stand between you and your dreams with horses? The Partnership Level addresses these everyday and more serious issues and shows you how to overcome them.

A good "Partnership" means:

Your horse comes to you, you don't have to "catch" him.
His ground manners are great; he is willing and cooperative.
He is easy to control -- sensing your energy level and willing to go fast or slow as you wish
He sees what you want to do and does it without any opposition reflex
He stands quietly for saddling and willingly picks up his feet for cleaning.
His attitude toward you is positive and responsive rather than negative, moody, or resistant.

The secrets for developing a soft, willing and responsive horse, and becoming more inventive in your horsemanship.

Your frustrations are a thing of the past -- it's time to start having more fun with your horse and exploring how much more you can achieve.

Harmony with your horse means:

You can communicate on longer lines, at greater distances -- heading toward liberty.
Liberty: the thrill of playing with horses with "no strings attached".
Impulsion such that it is as easy to get him to go as it is to get him to slow.
Developing a relaxedindependent seat whose fluidity matches the grace of your horse's rhythm.
The magic of Positive Reflexes, where your horse consistently responds with respect without fear.
Being in tune with your horse mentally, emotionally and physically.
Know the simple, infallible dynamics of leads and lead changes.
Trailer loading becomes a piece of cake with his mind, emotions and body at ease.
Developing the Four Savvys in the art of horsemanship. Real savvy and real results come when you learn how to have harmony both on the ground (On Line and at Liberty) and on the horse's back (FreeStyle and Finesse).

This is when refinement, flexion, finesse and collection all start to happen naturally! Here is where you really experience lightness.

Here are the secrets to flexion, completing the formula of respect-impulsion-flexion that's been developing through Levels 1 and 2. Learn how to achieve softness, lightness and grace along with the fundamentals for more complicated maneuvers both on the ground and on your horse's back.

Refinement means:

Your aids are almost invisible ... with only 4 oz of pressure!
You can ride confidently without anything on your horse's head!
Your horse has mental, emotional and physical collection, not just a "head set".
You and your horse are the picture of grace and finesse.
Liberty with true respect -- maintains gait and direction or change either at will.
Using longer lead lines (like a 45' line) with lightness and responsiveness.
Graceful transitions and snappy departures with lightness on your part.
Performing lateral movements at the trot and canter.
Understanding riding positions that enhance collection.
Your horse moves freely "within a frame", without brace and tension.
Developing Lateral Flexion into Vertical Flexion.
You can effectively use Vertical Flexion to add power, suspension and dimension.
